The CHRU of Tours welcomes more than 1,800 patients per day for hospitalization, and just as many for outpatient consultations. As a key healthcare provider for the Tours area, the department (as the lead institution for the GHT Touraine Val-de-Loire), and the Centre-Val de Loire region, it also plays a major role in health research and education.
The CHRU is one of the nine members of the GCS HUGO (University Hospitals of Western France Health Cooperation Group) and the Interregional Group for Clinical Research and Innovation, enabling it to take part in strategic projects and to bring together numerous stakeholders in clinical research and innovation. The CHRU has dedicated resources for the sponsorship and conduct of clinical trials, including a Clinical Research and Innovation Department (DRCI) and a Research Platform, which houses a Clinical Investigation Center (CIC1415) with a Technological Innovation module, a health economic evaluation unit, and a clinical data center.
The In&Hop structure brings these stakeholders together to accelerate and secure innovation projects, serving as the single point of access to all innovation expertise. In 2024, the CHRU (alongside seven other partners) was a winner of the “Third Places for Experimentation” call for projects. The ACCES CVL initiative aims to foster the emergence of digital solutions that will improve care coordination and communication in healthcare.
